Mackie.com product pages

The greatest challenge in delivering content for Mackie's site was to provide as much information as possible for a detail-hungry audience while allowing the visitor to zero in exactly on what he or she needs. I took my cue from our very successful print advertisements which are densely packed with text. The visitor has a long page to scroll through, but reporting software shows that they take the time to read it - often spending more than two minutes on a text-heavy page. Pictures of the products had to be sharp while keeping the file sizes small. On the left were links, for those who chose to see more, to detailed, high-res .JPGs showcasing product features by way of the small type that is screen-printed onto the product, allowing the products to speak for themselves as if the customer were in a store. Also included were links to details about other members of the product family and additional specialized information.

I selected the product photos, optimizing them for the web using Photoshop. Most of the content came from existing sales literature and advertisements. I created finished pages using Symantec Visual Page and BBEdit.

The Mackie site has changed quite a bit since I was in charge of it. To see the last iteration under my charge, please contact me.
